Yet
another lovely sunny day with little wind...this is great, add another
10oC & it would be brilliant!
I
made up a batch of Macadamia Nut & Tomato Pesto to marinade for a
day before we headed out to the visitors centre. Geoff needs to get a
permit to go fishing, even off a jetty or the beach!
Victorian
fees, charges, tolls AGAIN. They'll be charging for breathing soon
too!
I
had a stroll along the wharf whilst Geoff was in the auto shop. I was
waiting for him to call to say he was done...he didn't have his
phone...LOL (usually I do that!).

Varena and shops....Hmmmmm. Anyway, my piscatorial pestilence was replaced with my line-wielding largesse today. I only annoyed half a dozen bream with a hook, the rest got fed. They got fed a lot. I had 3 fishing lines upon which I basically spent 2 1/2 hrs replacing the bait. So many nibbles but only 4 made it to the shore. Two others almost made it. The rest just got fat at my expense. These bream are a good table fish (as Varena proved at dinner time), however even the ones you can legally keep would be chucked back in Darwin as too small.
Watch out for the light fingered Victorian government. Everything has a cost that you pay to them. They dip into your wallet at every opportunity. To go fishing anywhere in the state, including beaches and offshore, a licence fee is payable. So now the Vics own the oceans?
Chainsawn monument to the WW2 dead from Lakes Entrance |
From one of the many jetties lookoing back at the town |
Another chainsawn scultpure; cut from dead pine trees that were originally planted in memory of the fallen soldiers |
Interesting "pets" on the top of this boat's cabin!!! |
