Friday 9th September 2016

SHE SAID:

There was over 40mm of rain in Ballarat overnight. Thankfully it was only drizzle when we headed out a 9am.

Barb's birthday celebrations were in the American Hotel, at Sovereign Hill. It was held in a lovely old room with huge chandeliers, heavily decorated walls, at the reconstructed American Hotel.

All Erica's hard work with the cup cake birthday cake looked stunning. All the little kids were eagerly eyeing them off. The party went off well. Afterwards we had free reign to wander around the place. It has been well over 20 years since I last visited the "living museum" that is Sovereign Hill. It was good to be able to see it again without having to pay the $54 each entry fee, which I thought was rather expensive!

The rain returned at the end of the Gold Mine Tour, so everyone headed for their cars.

PS...Still thinking of you Luce.

HE SAID:

It was interesting to see Sovereign Hill again. I think I went there in the 1970s, but not sure. Barb's 70th birthday high tea was good. Lots of sweet food, but then some walking to work it off.
