SHE
SAID:
We
wake as tourists today & I have a list of things to do in
Narrandera & surrounds to keep us busy for the day. There's the
"world's largest playable guitar", & one of only two
Royal Doulton fountains (the other being in Pakistan!). Also, a koala
reserve where Geoff cleverly spotted one furry bum as we were about
to leave.
Up
the road from Narrandera we went to Yanco; where Geoff's Mum Val
lived for a while as a child & decided one day she would walk
backwards home from school!!! She managed to bump into a horse whilst
doing this & it was captured on film by her brother Bob!
In
Barellan there is a huge tennis racquet in honor of Evonne Goolagong,
who came from the town.
At
Ardlethan Geoff texted his mate Phil in Canberra to say we were in
his home town...which is the "Home of Kelpies" (every place
has to have something I guess); Phil's puzzled response was "Are
you lost?".
Finally
we stopped to take a photo of the next town's name: Grong
Grong....LOL!

I enjoyed the tour of the Narrandera district. There were family links too, as Mum had lived in Leeton and Yanco as a small girl while her dad was in the army.

Re the horse incident: there were no witnesses to it except Marjorie. Bobby was three years old, wasn't there and actually had no camera. His adventure with the horse was sitting on it, completely stationary (boring), on another day, and having his photo taken.
