SHE
SAID:
We
had another warm night in the ACT with the lowest temp all night was
25oC.
Packed
& on the road by 9.50am; our plans to take the scenic route had
changed as the national parks are all closed due to the extreme fire
dangers current today. All over NSW, ACT & Victoria with several
hundred fires burning throughout the areas.
We
did get off the highway south of Wangaratta at Benalla & found the
more scenic B roads back to Ferntree Gully via the quaintly named
Bonnie Doon, made famous in an Aussie movie called The Castle!
We
didn't see or smell any signs of fire on the whole trip, though passed
quite a few fire trucks heading north towards the higher fire risk
areas.
Riley
made us dinner for our return; it was yummo, as was Steph's Caramel &
Chocolate Chip Icecream.

HE SAID:
The drive from Canberra to Melbourne was a little varied by taking the back roads instead of the freeway. According to our GPS it added a whole 5 minutes to the trip. We'll have to check out the mountain areas another time, when the fire risk is gone.
