We
had a day out in the mountains today. We drove up to the Snowy River
National Park to McKillop Bridge. The map warned us that it was a
steep, dirt, one lane road with few places for passing! It was right
& luckily we didn't come across anyone coming in the other
direction.
There
were some interestingly named places that we passed through too;
Seldom Seen had a "junk yard" petrol station, then there
was W Tree Falls with no water & Ambyne Crossing had a lovely old
suspension bridge. McKillop Bridge crossed the Snowy River and was huge &
rather un-nerving with wide gaps between the wooden rails with views
of the river rushing beneath.
It
was probably the windy-est road we have ever been on & the 350km
trip took us about 7hrs!

Some of the funny place names on our drive that Varena left out had rude connotations: Spanker's Knob was one place, and Varena had a good old chuckle about Deddick.... (think about it).
