Geoff
& I headed to London, then Birmingham & Wolverhampton today. We
are leasing a car from my friend's cousin for an excellent price, so
were more than happy to go up & collect it.
It
was an easy trip, & we had a few hours in Birmingham having a look
around, then caught the train to Wolverhampton & Steve (the
cousin) picked us up. Steve & his wife Jo had very kindly offered
us a bed for the night, & we had dinner at the local pub.
It
was a good night.

Steve and Jo were so friendly. We enjoyed chatting and a few beverages throughout the evening. Unfortunately Steve is under the impression that England will go really well in the Ashes series, especially because "Joe Root is the best batsman in the world". The trouble is that Joe Root (I always giggle on the inside when I hear that name) is currently ranked number 8 by the ICC, with Australia's Steve Smith at number 1. Only time will tell, of course, but I hope that Steve is disappointed by the end of August.
