SHE SAID:

I was keen to see the small township of Thargomindah (why you wonder...because of the name...why else!), which was 130km west of Eulo.

It is a crossroad township where you can go north to Quilpie & Eromanga, continue west to Innamincka & / or Cameron Corner, or south to Hungerford & NSW. The name means “place of dust”. Luckily it wasn't windy on our visit, though the temperature was on the rise; it got to about 32C whilst we were wandering around.

With all the local attractions ticked off by morning tea time: Leahy Historic House, the old hospital, & mini museum at the old bore, we were back on the road to Eulo around 11.30am.

The old hospital

The new Visitors Information Centre

Leahy House - one of Sidney Kidman's (pioneering cattle baron) many properties

This old truck was purposely raised to drive through the flooded rivers
to get supplies & people to their destinations

" It couldn't go ANY further..."

All routes west & south

life-blood of the outback

The old bore on the outskirts of "Thargo"

Old Court House - I think!
HE SAID:

I was expecting a fairly long day out, but as it happens, there was not to much to Thargomindah. The drive was pleasant, with the usual alerts for emus, kangaroos and other beasts on or near the road.
