Friday 8th June

SHE SAID:

I wanted to have a look around the Wattle Flat/Styx River Forest Road area for orchids today. I was accompanied by my eagle-eyed spotter.

We managed one flowering orchid, loads of orchid leaves, & lots of different types of fungi, one of which I have named “The Star Penis” - see the photos!

Geoff saw a Platypus in the Styx River. I lucked out as I was busy scouring the forest!

Fairy Forest

"Star Penis" Fungi..(my name as I haven't ID'd it)

Geoff finally found out the name of this fungi - Stalked Puff-ball
(I prefer my name though)
HE SAID:

Spotting the platypus was my best sighting for the day. I did find a mosquito orchid, but it was not well received due to the flowers all having closed up and dried out. I tried.
