As
it was going to be a full blood moon (lunar eclipse) this morning, I
decided to get up early & photograph it! I was clock watching the
whole night, so didn't feel as though I slept much. I
got up at 4.50am & snuck out (though Geoff did say goodbye).
Most
annoyingly there were clouds, & no sign of the moon... not even a
glow where it should have been! B******.
So my back-up plan was to see the sunrise from North Brother. This was successful, along with a couple of dozen other people who were also mad enough to be up early enough.

I
had a drive around after sunrise & returned to the house around
10.30am.
The
rest of the day for me was spent making a large batch of Bolognese
sauce & culling the mornings photos. Geoff was all “energetic”
& washed the car... it looks almost brand new again...briefly I'm
sure.

When I ceased working 8 years ago (bragging!) I vowed to myself that after 20 years of shift work I was going to try and avoid early starts; I have seen hundreds of sunrises. So I stayed in bed while Varena optimistically beat the sparrows and kookaburras and zoomed off in the dark. I was happy.
