Sunday 1st July

SHE SAID:

With less than 48 hours to go here in Arding the rain has finally come. Real rain. Pouring & long lasting rain. Finally, after 9 weeks. Hopefully it will fill the water tanks!

We did some more cleaning, packing & final shopping of the stay. Once the chores were done we sat down & watched the first Lord of the Rings movie; The Fellowship of the Ring. After going to Hobbiton in “Middle Earth” I wanted to see the movies again.

Whilst watching the movie Geoff noticed out of the window a pig running around the garden...OMG...A PIG! Of course it was still teeming rain, but Geoff charged out to corral it out of the garden into the less planted area. I thought him quite brave as it looked like a feral pig to me! Anyhow, a long & amusing story short, Geoff got the neighbour boy over to collect the very friendly & docile "Florence the Pig" & take it home!

Geoff the pig herder!

Returning with the owner!

Bye bye Florence
HE SAID:

Well I jumped to my feet when I first saw the pig; I thought we had got ourselves a huge tusker; a monster razor-back! But half a second later I realised that it was not very big, had no tusks, and that I should probably get it out of the garden. It seemed to have its beady eyes on me as tried to lure it out of the house garden. It then came right at me, but even though I know nothing about pigs, except, you know... bacon, it no longer seemed a threat. After a short while I realised it was behaving like a pet, and was probably the pig I saw being "walked" along the road a few days ago. So, after getting it penned where it couldn't eat much of value, I ended up scaring the wits out of the neighbour by tapping on her kitchen window and making her jump a foot in the air. She had not heard me calling out due to the rain. Her lad gave me a lift back to the house on the quad-bike, and then led the pig back to their place, where they are pig-sitting while its owner is away. I was not expecting any of that!
