It
was an icy wind that blew us to Warragul....straight off the Snowy
Mountains we think!
We
had a brief morning tea stop in Sale, & a sandwich in the van at
Morwell for lunch to break the trip. It was only a little over 200km
from Lakes Entrance to Warragul, so not a big day. We
stopped a couple more times to get quotes on fitting solar panels to
the van; Geoff has finally come around to the idea.
Our
arrival at the new house sit was met with a bit of rain & still
the icy cold wind. We got the van parked off & headed inside with the
owners, Dirk & Lorraine, for a warming cup of tea.
Our
main charge is a very shy cat called Molly, & two very friendly
chickens. We spent the afternoon & evening doing an informal
handover & getting to know each other.

HE SAID:
Getting solar panels on the van will, hopefully, keep the batteries topped up enough to run the diesel heater whenever we need it. The heater uses a fair bit of power to get going, because of the glow-plug, I think, so having full batteries when we are away from mains electricity is essential if we want to stay warm. And we do! It was absolutely freezing in Warragul when we arrived; we had seen snow on the distant mountains of East Gippsland after leaving Lakes Entrance, so the wind was icy.
