Sunday 26th January
SHE SAID:
AUSTRALIA DAY.
Or as some people now refer to it as “Invasion Day”, though the British actually landed the week before in Botany Bay, but the current modern media likes to be divisive whenever it can. Well, whatever you choose to call it there was a Rotary Big Australian Breakfast on down on the Busselton foreshore, which I suggested to Geoff we go to.
We had a cooked breakfast & listened to the citizenship ceremony for about a dozen or so “new Australians” before walking down to the beach. There was a “fun swim” going on around the jetty & a market in the park. We were there early, so it wasn’t too crazy with people.
In the late afternoon Dorte & Gary came over for a couple of drinks.

We were up early, made ourselves a hot drink, and headed off to the Busselton foreshore to mark Australia Day. Rotary was holding a fundraiser breakfast so we partook in the cooked offerings. There was also a market to wander through, of which I managed about half before Varena offloaded me at the car so that she could have a brief solo look.
Dorte and Gary came over around 4pm for a drink and nibbles. A swim was mentioned as a possibility but the breeze was too cool for us.
Varena had a Skype with her mum in the evening.
