SHE SAID:

We had a couple of appointments today, one of which was an eye test for me. It has been 3 ½ years since my last one, & yes, I need slightly more “help”, so new glasses are ordered!

I left Geoff to do the shopping whilst I was at the Optometrist; he seemed to manage without me!

Back at the house I contacted the National Insurance agency in the UK, AGAIN, about the top-up of my UK pension. This is an on-going saga which I started in mid-2022, & still I don’t have any answers. 

I dread contacting them. It is very painful & this time was no exception; twice the phone dropped out, disconnected, died, I don’t know! I did manage to find out I can now submit a form online now…WHY NOW, & now not 2-3 years ago? So, with Geoff’s help I filled in yet ANOTHER form in hopes this will be resolved sometime before my 67th birthday!

With a couple of appointments, plus some running around, we were back at the house for lunch well after 2pm. I was pretty peckish!

Later, Varena bravely contacted the National Insurance people in the UK again. It is never fun! And, they do not have shopfronts where you can go and talk to someone, and, they do everything on paper via snail mail! Until today! When we found out that they now, within the last year, have an online version of a form that Varena filled in months ago and not heard back about, with the even better comment from one of the consultants that the online forms are being processed only a week or so after being submitted instead of the months and months for paper versions. Wow! If only we'd known! It could have saved a fair bit of stress.
