Wednesday 29th January

I made Alfajore Biscuits for the first time today. The recipe suggested making the biscuit dough the day before to rest it in the fridge. It took some kneading to soften it as it was rock hard from the fridge. After they cooled down I filled them with Dulche de Leche (a thick caramel sauce) & rolled them in coconut. They were yummy, too.

We had spaghetti & meatballs for dinne. I made fresh tomato sauce with the tomatoes from the garden. That went down nicely too. I think Geoff enjoyed it, but he was rather distracted battling the appalling Lord’s Cricket Ground ticketing system trying, & ultimately failing, to get tickets for the World Cricket Championship in June.

He was NOT happy about the whole fiasco & sent complaints to Lord’s & the Australian Cricket Board.

HE SAID:

I knew that there would be hurdles in getting Lord's tickets, but what I didn't expect was the absolute abomination of a "system" to get them. A couple of weeks ago I nominated to go into the ballot for priority ticket access, which opens 48 hours prior to tickets going on public sale. So, with 2 computers and a phone charged and logged in, and the Lord's app running, I watched as the opening time came and went without me getting into the ticket platform. Around 20 minutes after the opening I received an email announcing that the priority ticket access period had commenced and here was a link to use to get into it! Thanks for not telling me that bit! So, I click on the link and find that I am number 8371 in the queue, and I'll have to wait.

In that short time thousands and thousands of other so-called "ballot winners" for the priority ticket window must have logged in ahead of me! That's a lot of Saffers and Aussies willing to travel around the world for the cricket, with no local team playing. I can only suspect that bot / scammers got in and cleaned out the tickets in a hurry. I was absolutely fuming!

And, I did enjoy the meatballs.
