Today was my postponed birthday lunch treat. AND what a treat it was!
Geoff had booked us in for the Voyager Estate degustation food & wine experience. OMG! 9 beautifully matched courses; small portions, but with excellent wines, explanations of the food, & wines at every course.
The staff were brilliant, & knew their job, a rare thing these days. I also got to purchase a couple of their best wines so that Geoff gets to try them another time. He declined wines with his meal, not ready to have any alcohol yet.
To top off the amazing meal a waitress appeared with a bottle of their sparkling Chenin Blanc in a Voyager Estate bag, saying it was purchased by other diners, who wish to remain anonymous. They saw how we seemed to be really enjoying our dining experience & holding hands throughout the meal & wanted to give us this gift! Of course I teared up, & we never found out who did this very generous gesture.

We had a great day out at Voyager Estate for Varena’s birthday lunch. I hadn’t told her where we were going but she started to get ideas of our destination as we got nearer, because she knows the area quite well, so could eliminate options as we passed them. We were still a few kilometres away when she had the options down to two, but knew that I was very aware where she has always wanted to go, and she was correct. Varena was very pleased with my choice of venue, and her mood lifted yet another notch.
The restaurant setting is really nice, the chairs comfortable, the tables nicely spaced, the staff knowledgeable and attentive, and the food very tasty and well presented. And, going on what Varena said all the wines served were really nice and perfectly matched to the foods served. So, all around our three and a bit hours there was very enjoyable. Having other diners observe our fun, happiness, and hand-holding over lunch and to be inspired enough to buy us a bottle of wine to take home was an additional, and very nice, gesture. We were astounded.
I drove us the 45 minutes or so back to Vasse, and the experience was much improved on last weekend’s short drive. Hopefully my recovery continues.
