Wednesday 4th June
SHE SAID:
With Mum going for her Wednesday morning coffee in the lounge with the other residents Geoff & I headed out to meet the local Sussex orchid expert, James. I had arranged to meet him at a location we knew.
He was happy to show us around; I got 2 new to me orchids, plus a couple of hybrids, one of which is rare. He then sent us to another spot for another new one for me. It was a good day out.
We had a cuppa at Ferring Beach before heading back to Horsham.

HE SAID:
We were off well before 9am for our drive to the orchid spot. There were no dramas and we were there a touch early, as was James. So, off we wandered, with Varena and James chatting merrily about orchids, and me mainly wandering dimly in the hillside meadow. There were lots of the common orchids all over the place, but with James’s help several others were also found, pleasing Varena very much.
Our lunch was eaten in the car near the second orchid spot, that James had given us. After looking around there we drove the short way to fully pebbled beach and tried not to let our tea get blown out of our cups, before heading back to Horsham. Varena’s bangers and mash were very tasty for dinner, as usual.
