SHE SAID:

I had a hairdresser's appointment this morning. Geoff dropped me off then he went to Woolworths for groceries. When I was done we headed for the NAB bank to enquire about whether they could issue a pound sterling cheque for us. NO, they can’t! Now we have to try & send the money for my National Insurance top-up online! OMG!

We headed for a morning tea treat to a new place called Flickr; Deb & Mike had left us a voucher as a thank you for the house sitting. It was takeaway only, so we sat at the foreshore with hot drinks & sweet treats, though we stayed in the car as the breeze was cold.

I had a few hours around some of the Esperance orchids spots, finding the first Blue Beard for the season out! I was happy.

HE SAID:

We managed to get a few things done this morning while in town, including a new lock for the front boot of the van, which I got from a locksmith’s. Varena zoomed out not long after we got home, and I got started on replacing the van lock, finishing off the service of the van’s hydraulic jack, and a few other things around the place. It was quite a productive day.

While I was testing the newly serviced jack on the van a local kid, Luke, passed by on his tiny scooter. After a couple of to-ings and fro-ings he stopped to chat, telling me his name, that he is 5 years old, that he just cleaned his scooter, his birthday is in February, and all the maths times tables that he knows. I reckon we chatted for nearly 10 minutes on the footpath outside the house. He seemed reluctant to leave, even when his mum came along and tried to usher him away; he just wanted to tell me about how he can count by sevens! It amused me.

Another unusual occurrence while I worked on the van, a lady from a couple of doors down the street went across the road to the park, hammered a hoop into the grass, and commenced practicing her croquet. I don’t see that everyday!
