Tuesday 19th August
SHE SAID:
A gloomy day greeted us, but the rain front isn’t due till after lunch. The wind was strong but it wasn’t too cold. I packed us lunch & we headed off around 8.30am.
We headed west & had plenty of good finds for the day. As usual, we stopped in new random spots as well as old pin drop locations. I think we saw 17 different orchids, nothing new, but a couple of less than normal finds:a double-headed Western Tiny Blue, & also a couple of double-headed Pink Bunnies. I was happy with the ½ day out.
We headed back to Ravensthorpe as the rains caught up with us & were back in the van by 2.30pm.

HE SAID:
We had a good day out, with wanders in various terrains, and didn't get rained on much. As usual, orchids were found, some a surprise. The burnt areas didn't yield as much as we'd hoped for, but a few things were seen. I think the first proper rain came just a few minutes after we got into the van, so all good.
For some reason, yesterday afternoon the ute suspension started squeking. It was quite annoying. So, when we got back to the van, and before the rain, I had Varena bouncing on the rear bumper of the ute while I was under the rear of the ute with a can of WD40. Without really knowing where or why, the spray seems to have fixed the squeaking.
