Saturday 20th September

SHE SAID:

Geoff, Nikki & I had a good day out at Mt Ridley.

We found a new to me orchid (very surprisingly), with the help of Gary Brockman, an orchid researcher, who turned up with Chris French soon after us. They were hunting samples of an orchid they are in the process of naming, with the working name of Pterostylis sp. ‘Ridley’. Gary kindly showed us a couple of open plants, & Geoff went on to find quite a few more open in a different area!

Our tally for the day was 21 different types; we were very happy.

The slow-roasted lamb went down nicely for dinner.

"Where is the Dragon, the egg has hatched"!?!

"Ridley" Rufous Greenhood -
about to be formally named

HE SAID:

The road to Mount Ridley is only a bit ordinary for the last few km's, but a 4WD is the way to go. It wasn't too wet, but quite lumpy, and a grader would fix all that. But it would let more drongos in too. A dilemma.

Varena and Nikki asked me a few times to find things, and rather surprisingly I did! We were all amused by this.
