We were ready & on the road by 7.15am today! It was going to be hot, so it was good to get going early. When we stopped at the Azure Sun Orchids they were open & happy to see. It was already 21C at 8.30am in Grass Patch!
From there it was 2 hours to the next destination, 50 Mile Rock, north of Norseman. We met up with Wayne & Wendy here, who had been out there on Sunday & found the Eastern Granite or Rock-loving Rufous & were keen to show us them. It also meant they could drive us to the base of the rock & save us an 800m walk in with the heat already rising to 30C!
We saw 8 different orchids; I was well surprised & the Eastern Granite Rufous is a new one for me.
We left the rock around 1pm, Nikki was suffering in the heat. It was good to get back to some air con.
It was another 2 hours to Kalgoorlie, where we dropped the caravan at the storage, sorted our stuff out for the BnB, & headed there.

HE SAID:
With a five hour drive towing the van to Kalgoorlie ahead of us we were on the road early. It was a warm day so our timing was perfect for the sun orchids at Grass Patch. It was quite warm at 50 Mile, and after a while we called it all of, with Nikki suffering from the heat. After getting to the "Luxury Bed and Breakfast", which was far from luxury and didn't offer breakfast, I had to unload the back of the ute and traipse everything through the place, as the side gate was locked and we didn't have a key. That was a pain in the bum.
