SHE SAID:

We took a cruise down the Maas River to Liege, in Belgium today, just because we could, & I thought it would be easier having a day of mainly sitting down. The weather continues to be yucky, though at least we are under cover for most of the day.

The cruise took us through the Albert Canal, which has a 15m high water difference!

Liege seems like an industrial town, with many barges going up & down the river. There were some nice old buildings around the main town centre though.

Approaching the Klein Ternaaien Lock, which has the 15m water height difference on the other side

The Albert Park Memorial to the builder of the canal. We came from the left side.
The right side goes to Antwerp

Palace de Prince-Eveques, in the centre of Liege

Street Scene

One old building seemingly being "squeezed" at the end of more modern ones

We couldn't figure out what the little roof doors were/are for?
HE SAID:

The cruise was enjoyable for its novelty not its scenery. However the walk around Liege was scenic, with loads of interesting old buildings.
