SHE SAID:

Mum & John surprised us by coming down for breakfast by about 9am. They hadn't got in till well after midnight!

We had a quiet morning & headed out about midday for Maastricht. We did the 45 minute city bus tour, which was mainly in the rain. Then had a wander to a couple of the main places of the city.

For dinner we had to go to Valkenburg, as everywhere around the hotel was closed. We took the taxi driver's recommendation & ate at an American Diner, which wasn't bad.

The royal entrance to the Basilica

The half painted (!?!) parish church

St Servatius Bridge which has stood across the Maas River since 1280

This American school bus is now used for the tours of the city

HE SAID:

While the town centre of Maastricht is not huge, it was good to get a tour. The rain hindered Varena's photo taking, but it was still worthwhile.
