HE

A
miserable day & week of weather is forecast!
We
did go out for a winery tour & lunch at the largest winery in
England, not far from Mum's, in Dorking (Geoff's favourite town
name!). The wine at Denbies was surprisingly good & the food was
nice too.
I bought a few bottles & Geoff & John got some beers from the
brewery attached to the winery!
| My one shot from the winery tour...it was too wet for outside pictures. The rest are from my Hever castle day out! |

At Denbies (for some reason they don't put an apostrophe in their name; odd) Jan, John, Varena and I took a tour of the winery, and had a sample or two, of course. It was rather amusing to hear that they expect to able to produce red wine in about 80 years due to global warming!
At the back of the winery building is the Surrey Hills Brewery. The customer shop/tasting area/room is a pokey little place stacked with boxes of beer. I am fine with that, except that they didn't really seem prepared to actually receive customers, of which there were only two, me and John. The bloke we spoke to said he was busy and would get us a taster in a minute and be off again. He came back after a few minutes with some glasses containing a small amount of beer in each, and then said we had to share them. Disappearing off for a few minutes he returned so I asked him if I could taste one of the beers that he had not given us a shared sample of. No was the answer.
I bought a couple of the untried beers just because, but I don't recommend anyone actually bother going there. If you see their ruby beer for sale try it. But don't bother with the rest.
