SHE
SAID:
Robin
Hood & his Merry Men, down in Sherwood Forest, was on our agenda
today. There was a Robin Hood Festival going on, so it was unavoidable
that we were drawn into the "madding crowds".
We
saw various merry men, along with several “Robin Hoods” large &
small!
We
ate lunch at the church where Maid Marion & Robin were said to
have married! Then left the crowds & headed back to Nottingham.
Geoff
managed to score a photo with David Lloyd!? At the 3rd pub
we visited on a mini “Ye Olde” pub crawl we did in the evening.

We know that Robin Hood is only a legend but we thought we'd take a look anyway. I don't know if it was lucky or not that the festival was on. There was a long queue of traffic to get in, and then a 5 pound fee to park, but the activities and people in period costume were amusing.
The Bell Inn, in central Nottingham, was hosting a beer tasting. So I had to try a few, of course. I also bumped into and had a chat with Ian Ward, an ex-England cricketer, without knowing who he was at the time. I had to look him up to match the name to the face. But he was obviously amiable.
I did recognise David Lloyd (Bumble). He is a cricket commentator as well as an ex-England player. He seemed friendly too, despite my Australian-ness.
