SHE
SAID:
I
found a National Trust property which was open in West Sussex today (many National Trust places are closed for the winter),
so we all decided to head out there. The house & gardens were
called Standen; not really old, late 1800's.
They
had a Xmas theme going on through the house, with lots of different
era xmas trees & decorations in the various rooms. It was all
very tasteful inside but outside in the courtyard there was this
hideous pink thing, decorated by the "famous" designer
Zandra Rhodes.
We
had a fleeting stop at Saint Hill Manor (much to Geoff's horror!) - home to the Scientologist
in England.
Our lunch stop was at High Beeches, ( a private gardens though we didn't venture into them). Then it was back to Horsham; for a drive
by the 2 houses we lived in when I was a kid. And finally over to Kate &
Tony's place, (friends of Mum's) to say goodbye to them before our Monday
departure.

Saint Hill Manor was, as I expected, odd. We only drove through the car park and took pictures, but the building, like the cult, did not really fit well in its environment. Scientology had to go one better than everyone else's religions, so they came up with a totally outrageous premise to base a cult on, then set it in space! Talk about batsh*t crazy!
