SHE SAID:

Geoff & I headed up to the Tablelands for our final jaunt today. Bruce had his own mini-break at the Tropicats pet boarding place.

We had morning tea at the Millstream National Park, lunch at 40 Mile Scrub National Park, & our destination was the Undara Volcanic National Park. National Parks everywhere!!
We both found flowering orchids at 40 Mile Scrub; I was happy!

We were booked in for 2 nights at the Undara Resort, with a couple of tours organised whilst there. On the wildlife & sunset tour we saw 5 types of macropods, got bubbles & nibbles at the Sunset Lookout, & saw micro bats in the "Bat Cave” lava tube!
First stop - Millstream Falls; picture postcard pretty

Cabin 406 - our accommodation for 2 nights

The Fettler's Iron Pot Restaurant & bar at Undara

The iron pot that the restaurant is named after &
the early transport that came out this way in the 1800's

The restaurant is surrounded by old railway carriages that you
can eat your meals in; the owner is a train nut

A very pretty Antilopine Wallaroo

Us at the Sunset Lookout, Undara

Dusk comes

Last of the sun's reflection

Wes, the guide, breaking out Bubbly & nibbles

The "Bat Cave"....thousands of tiny micro-bats come flooding out at sunset

The smudges on the photos are the bats flying past from deep inside the lava tube
HE SAID:

Our last Tully-area side-trip. Varena catered well, as usual, and we had a tasty morning tea and lunch on our way to Undara.

Our education on macropods from the tour guide while we did the sunset tour was interesting. There is no chance I'll remember all the information, but bits will stick, and emerge at odd times, no doubt.
