Friday 30th March

SHE SAID:

With Geoff off to the final cricket test at Wanderers Stadium, I planned a quiet day getting the diary/Blog written up. I have most of March to catch up on! I have made notes, so luckily won't need to rely on memory (we've done SO much I'd be stuffed to remember everything).

Geoff gave me regular updates. He said he got interviewed twice by tv stations about his views on the continuing "cricketing saga".

We had a "traditional South African Braai" for dinner (BBQ to everyone else).

HE SAID:

It is pretty cool to be at stadiums such as Wanderers, as I have heard about them and seen them on tv since I was a kid. I am told the ground was a sell-out, and we all watched the South Africans score well thoughout the day.

Upon entering the ground via the main gates I was accosted by a Channel 10 Australia TV reporter for another quick comment regarding the latest ball scandal, then a few seconds later by yet another TV crew, this time for the AFP media organisation. I guess my brigh Aussie supporter kit made me stand out.

One strange and annoying thing here is people whack on a hi-viz vest and stand in traffic and try and get paid by you to "find" a parking spot, "help" you reverse out, or provide "security" for your car, all uninvited. They are bloody useless, a hindrance, and definitely do not provide any security. That some of these people are in great need I am sure, but navigating three lanes of traffic with 25 parking attendants wandering over the lanes, whistling and shouting, and waving their arms, in flowing traffic, is not endearing.

Our AirBnB hosts had recently bought a braai/barbecue for our digs, so we made use of it cooked up some tasty lamb chops and boerwors (sausage).
