Saturday 21st April

SHE SAID:

We headed out of Canberra for the Flat Rock free camp, about 30kms north of Oberon, around 9am. The roads were quiet, & we made good time.

Morning tea was at Taralga, which broke the journey nicely.

The camping area was quite large, overlooking the Fish River, which was flowing, but low & not visible from the camp. We got a good spot away from others & faced the van to view the bush. Mick & Jacqui arrived about 45 minutes after us in their Kombi, Trusty.

We had a great afternoon; had a walk by the river, then eating & drinking around a raging fire; always nice when the sun goes down. Dinner was one of Mick's tasty slow cooked curries & all the trimmings.

HE SAID:

Meeting up with Mick and Jac provided a new dimension to caravanning. I can't recall any other time that we have deliberately met people on the road. It was a fun evening, with beer, food, and wine. In that order.

As usual though, there were a few dickheads around who love to have a stereo blasting to enhance the serenity, and grab their chainsaw to cut the neighbouring farmers wood up for a fire. Humph.
