Saturday 7th April

SHE SAID:

We were happy to have a relaxed day at the loft, for our final full day here. Our only outing was to have afternoon tea at The Factory up on Grant Street.

These photos are from yesterdays walk through one of the poorest area of Soweto - Kliptown.
Heading into the township area (shanty town) of Soweto

Cross the tracks to the poorest areas of Soweto

School holidays so the kids are playing in the streets

Our guide showing us the real side of life in the shanty town

24 people live in these 3 rooms, no toilets, power for TV only, (illegally taken), no fridges,
the tap is unusual but they look like to local laundry

HE SAID:

Venturing out only for coffee and cake after lunch, we had a planned rest day. The poor waitress at the café may have been a bit stressed when we left, as she had stuffed up both our orders. We still enjoyed our cake when it arrived, as you usually do.
