Thursday 8th March

SHE SAID :

We had a big day ahead of us today. Firstly getting to the landing strip at Gweta without getting bogged.
Done.
Then getting the connection from Joburg to PE, with only 2 hours from landing off an international flight, getting through immigration & to domestic check-in.
Done.
It was dark on our arrival, to Port Elizabeth, and drizzling rain, but the car hire process was quick and easy. John, our Airbnb host for the next 6 nights greeted us at his rental property;  everything was great. We have a 2 bedroom terrace house to ourselves.
Phew, done....I was a little concerned knowing that international flights often get delayed!

PS the photos are from last night's final safari drive out of Camp Kalahari.

Our first Ostriches seen last night after heading back from the Meerkats

Maribou Stock - the closest we have come to them

I was very keen to see these cool birds;

HE SAID:

It was a long day, with three flights, a 4WD odessey, and then driving a hire car at night in a strange city. It was quite a relief that all had worked out as planned and was incident free.

On the way to Gweta we came across an elderly local lady walking down the road. Mr Bones stopped the vehicle and she hopped in. Bones is a Gweta local, so probably had his reasons for the pick up, and we didn't mind. With our new passenger on board we headed to Gweta saving the lady a walk of many kilometres and many water hazards
