After
our trip into town for wine, groceries & hardware, the rest of the
day was spent back at the house.
We
did some hand watering of the garden, as we have only had one rain
shower since we arrived. I managed to spray the cat once...she stayed
well away after that!
It
was pies for dinner & Geoff requested a "Pie Floater".
Since we had homemade pea & ham soup he got it! Basically, it is a pie
sitting in the the soup...strange I know! I had a pie & salad!

It had been ages since I'd had a pie floater. They are a tasty, and dare I say, moderately healthy, meal depending on what has gone into the soup. Because homemade soup is always healthy - right? But as far as I know, Varena has never had one of these delights. Even though she made me one she is just not interested. They were once very popular (Depression Era, I think), especially in Adelaide, but now they are a rare treat for me.
