SHE
SAID:
We
had a drive up to Inverell to the north, & Glen Innes to the north
east today.
We
drove through Inverell late last year, but only stopped for fuel, so
I wanted to have a better look around. It was about an hour away. We
did the historic walking tour of the town & had morning tea. Then
we headed east to Glen Innes, the "heartland" of the Celtic
culture in the New England region. They have an annual Celtic
Festival & have even erected the "Australian Standing
Stones".
Yes,
we did see them; Archie posed with them, & with us trying to pull
out the "Australian" Excalibur sword!
Glen
Innes seemed to be a busy little place, more so the Inverell, which
appeared to have quite a few closed shops.

Another pleasant day's drive and look around, though I was rather disappointed at Glen Innes, when we went to a pie shop in the main street and they were sold out of steak and kidney. It is hard enough to find them at all, so they are obviously fairly popular when they are available.
