SHE
SAID:
I
suggested a drive out to the Long Point Lookout & walk in the
Oxley Wild Rivers National Park to Geoff this morning. Having just
had an egg & bacon breakfast he was keen.
We
had been out this way in February 2015, & found 2 Greenhood
Orchids. I wasn't expecting to find much, as it has been so dry, but
today we had much more success. Geoff's eagle eyes found 4 orchid
types. And there were at least 2 different Greenhood Orchid basal leaves
with buds coming! Plus there were 1000's
of Mosquito Orchid leaves, probably Acainthus apprimus, and a tall
multi-flowered Greenhood: Bunochilus sp; there were plenty of these, with more coming. Plus, a single small Greenhood - Pterostylis sp. &
finally, Bristly Helmet Orchids; Corybas hispidus.
WOW, an awesome day.
Now
I need to ID them all!
Chandler River lookout |
Gorges Lookout |
Red Triangle Slug....yes really! |
Blunt Greenhood...I think
(Diplodium obtusum)
|
Tall or Common Leafy Greenhood -
Bunochilus longifolius
|
Bristly Helmet Orchid - Corybas hispidus |
I knew nothing about going out today. Varena sprung it on me after breakfast. Heading to Long Point, I thought we'd been there before. And we had. But this time, after a slow start, I found a few orchids, and Varena was very happy.
