We
packed up the van from Mandurah in the pouring rain & headed
north to Badgingarra, around 270km away. It was an easy drive; being
the weekend there was no “rush hour traffic” congestion.
Arriving
at the caravan park around midday we bumped into Margaret & Kevin
from WANOSCG, who gave me directions on where to meet them once we had
set up. (I had planned our trip north to meet up with the group).
I
zoomed off as soon as we had unhitched, leaving Geoff to finish the
set up. Although
the other group members weren’t impressed with what was seen I was
quite happy; 3 new to me orchids for the afternoon! (The numbers of orchids was quite down on expectations I think).

With Varena busting to be out in the bush with her new orchid group friends I managed to complete our van set up solo. It is not difficult, it just takes a bit longer. But because we wanted to get going early we were up and off right in the middle of a downpour. As I do most of the outside tasks when packing up the van I got soaked, even with a plastic poncho on. It wasn't freezing cold, luckily for me, and the car heater and air-conditioner soon had me drying out as we drove north.
