Monday 1st July

SHE SAID:

After a cooked breakfast & farewelling the WANOSCG people Geoff & I headed out into the drizzly, grey & gloomy day. Margaret had suggested we head for a lookout to the north of Jurien Bay where we might see the Kalbarri Shell Orchid. Being as it would be a “new to me” sighting I was keen to find it.

Having my number 1 spotter with me was a bonus, as he had barely taken a few steps out of the car at the lookout when he found what we were looking for! In the end there were loads scattered around the car park, but nothing further up the lookout track.

We didn’t find anything new for the rest of the day. We did manage to “find” the rain everywhere we stopped though. Returning to the van rather damp it was nice to dry off with a hot soup in front of the heater!

I was under pressure to spot orchids today. Varena had made a cooked breakfast, so I had to return the favour somehow!
