Saturday 20th July

SHE SAID:

Touring the area around Western Flora we found many more Greenhoods, a few Snails, & Blue Beards, quite a few Shells & Donkeys! Yes I’m talking about Orchids!

Geoff had his orchid eyes on once again. And I was a very happy wiffey!

Left top/bottom; Blue Beard Orchid(Pheladena deformis)
Middle top/bottom; Donkey Orchid (Diuris sp. Undescribed as yet)
Right top/bottom; Small Banded Greenhood (Pterostylis orbiculata)-red-brown form & 
Green-veined Shell Orchid (Pterostylis scabra)

Left & top right; Small Banded Greenhood (Pterostylis orbiculata)- brown/green form
Bottom right; Broad-petalled Snail Orchid (Pterostylis platypetala)


HE SAID:

These little blighters, orchids, are such a pain to find sometimes, but not today. Some were awkwardly stashed under prickly shrubs, but we managed to find enough variety to keep Varena very happy.
