Saturday 6th July

Our final full day here in Dalwallinu. I had a few places in mind to go & see, though the likelihood of finding anything flowering (orchid wise) seems quite remote!

The GPS was useless once again. Thankfully this new WA map book is proving mostly useful. Though it took us down a “dead end road”, which was annoying & it didn’t indicate another road that we did end up taking!

Anyhow, we made it to the first stop: the Cailbro Mudbrick School House, erected in 1939. It has recently been covered in a “carport” to protect it from the weather, so the “appeal” is diminished somewhat. There was quite a lot of information on the building of the school house, the area, & people who helped build it & went to school there; a few families still live in the area. Even the old dunny is still standing.

Our bush wandering finally came up trumps just as we were about to give up! Geoff spotted some flowering Greenhoods for me!

Pterostylis scabra (Green Veined Shell Orchid) at last!

A drive around, plus spotting a few orchids. Not the busiest of days.
