Wednesday 10th July

SHE SAID:

Meekatharra. We went to Meekatharra... SO exciting, well not really. I wanted to go because I liked the name, & it has been on my “to do” list for ages!

Google told us it was 267km & 4 ½ hour drive, when in fact it was 195km & just over 2 hours drive!

The best part about the trip was the stop in the very quaint town of Cue, around 2/3rd of the way to Meekatharra. There were some lovely old stone buildings there & the place is neat & tidy with green grass along the main road! Quite a surprise.

Meekatharra seemed much like Mount Magnet; nothing much of note to see or do. The busiest place was the “pop-up” food & drinks van.

I managed to take a few photos for the day & we returned to Mt Magnet around 3.30pm.

Crowded on the Great Northern Highway

Welcome to Cue...where the hell is Cue.....!

HE SAID:

I have never heard anything nice about Meekatharra. The main reference to it in my recall is in the Kevin Bloody Wilson song "Living Next Door to Alan". Varena's research before we went there revealed that all the to do things in Meekatharra were actually out of Meekatharra, and one was about 300km out! And that was a big rock.

Now we have been there I can say that for fuel, and if you are lucky, food, then Meeka is OK. For anything else I will have to wait until next time.
