We had some decent rains today, around 15mm. It brought the temperature down, though surprisingly inside it was quite comfortable, even without the fire on!
Geoff decided to tackle the replacing of the back brakes, after the relative ease of replacing the front ones. Unfortunately, the back ones aren’t nearly as simple!
The mechanic is back! |

Can you see the brownie on a plate Varena brought me before taking the photo? What a set-up! Anyway, I think I have a decent grasp of what needs to be done to replace brake shoes. The problem was that there problems.
Problem one was the lack of replacement circlips for when the transfer of the old additional hardware is made to the new shoes. These circlips are very small, flimsy, and unlikely to be able to be re-used once taken off. It was very lucky that I had bought a small packet of circlips just in case!
Problem two was the unexpected movement of a brake cylinder piston. This had me really worried. But, after re-assembling it all, testing it, removing the wheels and looking again, testing it again, removing the wheels and looking yet again, it all seemed fine.
I left the wheels off overnight in case there was a slow leak. I was rather stiff and sore from all the kneeling and lugging the wheels, but a warm shower was the perfect solution.
