Geoff zoomed off early to get the brakes checked over; all his hard work seems to be fine.
Then we both headed for Wandering, a tiny village about 2 hours northeast of here, to meet a possible new house-sit owner; Vicki. They need sitters for 10 days in June, & the dates fit in well with us finishing at Vasse, & before going to Esperance.
Both Vicki & husband Darron welcomed us into their home. They seemed very nice, with an easy-care modern house & 2 fluffy cats. They were happy for us to do the sit, so we will return on the 7th June.

HE SAID:
As Pedder's offer a brake and suspension check for $30 I thought it wise that my first efforts at working on brakes be checked by someone with more knowledge and experience than me. They open at 8am so I was there at 8, and waited around in the very chilly 10 degree shed "waiting area" for about 90 minutes as they did their thing. No brake issues were raised, though some non-urgent suspension bush replacement could be on the cards.
Our 400km round trip to Wandering, leaving about 11:30, was productive, with a short house-sit locked in, and we met Vicki and Darron, who were friendly and chatty. I'm sure Varena will love the two cats, as well.
