SHE SAID:

Geoff was trying to fix the power problem from first thing this morning. It wasn’t the power cord, & he couldn’t get a replacement trip box. Luckily, he was chatting to someone in the park who suggested unplugging everything & trying again.

It worked! So, we are confused as to what the problem was, though the heated towel rail isn’t working now.

We packed up & headed to Darkan, which is about 100km north of Boyup Brook.

Unfortunately, it is a long weekend & the caravan park was almost full. We parked the wrong way round near to the entrance; it is a proper site, but we should have backed in. But, we decided a view of the fields was better than a close by caravan!

We did the sights of Darkan township in a few minutes & found the 1869 “Six Mike Cottage” 10km north of the town. I had a fruitless search for orchids to the west of town, leaving Geoff to watch the footie.

Six Mile Cottage - 1869

It was a pleasant surprise to find this little piece of Australian
history open to wander around, with no body watching the place.
There is still trust out there!

A couple of the more interesting building in Darkan
Apart from the church which looks like they forgot to
put the roof on, a VERY ugly building!

We think the hotel is closed, despite the sign out the front.
On Facebook they are trying to crowdfund to get it renovated

HE SAID:

It was a cold morning so I got the diesel heater going when I woke up. It is a bit noisy outside the van, so hopefully our neighbour wasn't too put out by it. Troubleshooting the reason for the van's RCD constant tripping led to no result. The power works fine now, but I really don't know the cause of the problem.
