Geoff & I headed east for Boyatup Hill on the never-ending orchid hunt. We saw lots of leaves, & buds, but the flowering ones were sparse on the ground.
Back at the house & I had a go at making a Magic Cake. Jacqui had asked me a couple of weeks ago if I’d ever made one. I hadn’t even heard of it before.
It is basically a very runny batter mixture with beaten egg whites folded through. You are supposed to end up with a triple layer cake. Sponge, then custard, & a crust-like base. You could just make out the layers, though the base was thin & hard to see. It was nice, but not scrumptious.

It was 100km+ out to Boyatup. We wandered around a bit dimly, but managed a few minor finds as well. The day got better when cake was produced, and also, of course, when the cricket came on.
I had my usual Skype session with Mum in the late afternoon. She was a bit flat again this week. The pain from injuries from her fall in March are still there. Not knowing the reason for her fall, and not recognising some of her own injuries, and being diagnosed with the potential need for a hip replacement in future, added up does not bode well. Hmmm.
