Geoff
came along on a day’s orchid hunting, his last full day for a week,
as I’m going to Esperance on Tuesday. He can have
a well-deserved rest!
We
headed north for the southern & eastern areas of the Stirling
Ranges National Park. It was a mostly a new area trip & we found
lots. Geoff, of course found the 2 finds of the day, a hybrid White
Spider & a lutea White Spider; they were beautiful.
It
was 4.30pm by the time we got back.

It
was a fairly big day, with some new places to explore. A rather
amusing moment was after lunch. We we looking around an area and
thought that we should cross a small creek to look further, as the
habitat was different. I crossed the creek by jumping and using the
firm-ish clay islands mid-stream. Varena was not so sure and left me
to it, with the classic phrase "Don't find anything"! So,
of course, 30 seconds later I called out to her that I had found a
new orchid for the year. I offered to take any necessary photos on my
phone to avoid her having to cross the creek, but she insisted on
coming over, making it safely with a little assistance. |
