 Wednesday 16th August

SHE SAID:

Today Mel & I met Martina & Ric at the Brookton Roadhouse. They took us out to see the Williams Spiders & a lutea one. They are tiny Spiders, & I’ve only ever seen 1 before. It was great to see 20 or more this time, & the yellow form with a red 'tongue'.

We took them to the “Crimrose” hybrid spot. They’d not seen this cross before (which I'd found before we met them). Then, they showed us the Hairy-leafed Snail, which I think I’ve only seen once before, too.

After saying goodbye to them Mel & I headed for Dryandra. I showed her Forestry Rd, “my spot” that I found in 2021. There were Clubbed Spiders & Birds in flower here, amongst others.

Our final stop was at the Congelin Campground, a supposed orchid hot spot, but we were too early; we saw a few, but nothing exciting. From there I headed south & Mel headed east.

It was dark & spitting rain when I got back to Goode Beach. I was pretty knackered, & glad to be “home” with hubby again.

HE SAID:

One thing led to another and I ended up spending a couple of hours fiddling with the van. I have wanted to check the water uptake from the water tanks to the pump for a while, so got that done. Then I thought I had better check the sacrificial anode in the hot water tank, so I replaced that. Then I had the idea to lubricate the van's leaf springs. After this I noticed that the shed circuit where we are drawing power from the van had tripped for about the third time. Mike is running his submersible pump off the same outlet, which shouldn't have been a problem, but seemed to be none-the-less. So, after testing several combinations of double adapters, power cords, and power boards I have the van running with stable power. None of these are difficult jobs. But when added together they seem to take a while.

Varena returning a day early was a pleasant surprise. She was back around 6:30pm, and got to watch me bbq a t-bone steak for dinner.
