 Sunday 3rd September

SHE SAID:

With the weather being awful, we got 15-20mm of rain, hail, high winds & a feels like temperature just above 0c, it wasn’t a day for orchid hunting!

I suggested to Geoff we check out the National Trust property, Strawberry Hill, which is in the middle of Albany. It is the oldest farm in WA, dating from the 1830’s. Our guide around the property gardens & house was Brian, a very chatty & knowledgeable man on all things about the place. We walked around with him for over an hour.

There was no improvement in the weather when we headed back to Goode Beach, so we stayed in. For lunch we had homemade soup, oven fresh rolls & spent the rest of the day by the roaring fire.

HE SAID:

Our morning of Albany history was interesting, but very cold. Some twit had left his jacket at the house, and tried to bravely face the near-freezing windy weather. Varena's soup and the rolls were the perfect lunch for a day such as this. I watch an NRL match this arvo. There is usually AFL on but the idiots in charge reckon having a week off before the finals is best.
