 Tuesday 29th August

SHE SAID:

I had a big day. I left Goode Beach at 6.24am for Esperance! A 500km one way trip, chasing a new to me orchid which has started flowering, though it can self-pollinate, so whether I find any open remains to be seen.

I stopped in 3 burns on the way, finding a variety of orchids in each. In Esperance I caught up with Wayne & Wendy out at Helms briefly, before heading to Kylie & Ean’s for 3 nights.

Obi awaiting getting packed!

HE SAID:

Varena was off before the sparrows yawned on her orchid odyssey. There were several large branches, and a large pile of unsplit logs, in front of the house so I thought I'd tackle that lot, both to keep busy, and to provide more firewood.

I quickly found Mike's battery powered chainsaw and started on the fallen branches. The battery didn't last very long, so I needed to recharge it a couple of times, but in the end there were a couple of barrowloads of firewood to help us stay warm, and to save Mike and Nat's supply.

Varena had left me lots of good tucker so there is no way I'll go hungry in her absence.
