SHE SAID: Today we headed for Lago di Como,
driving along the western side of the lake; apparently the more
scenic side. The lunch stop was Menaggio, which had lots of people
everywhere. I vaguely remembered it from the mid-1980’s &
eventually pointed out Varenna to Geoff across the lake.
We continued on up into the
snow-capped mountain to the Tenuta La Gatta Winery, which means
Estate of the Cat. We had a tour of the winery & then tastings
overlooking the beautiful valley.
We returned to the town of Sondrio
via the scenic route for our overnight at the Grand Hotel della
Posta, a nice hotel overlooking the piazza. Lori organised a quiz
for us all about the trip; it was an amusing hour with way too many
competitive people!!!

HE
SAID:
It was a very nice day, with lots
of sun and warmth. Our journey had us in long tunnels, up hills near
snow-covered mountains, and getting squeezed by large vehicles on
very narrow roads. There were some very close calls where we nearly
lost a side mirror, and once we nearly cleaned up a small car which
reversed into our path. Luckily we were fine, and enjoyed a stroll
around Menaggio at lunchtime, then some wine tasting in a very scenic
valley. The group quiz in the evening, based on information that our tour leader, Lori, had mentioned over our tour was amusing, and victory was mine!
