We had a day touring around the greater Paynes Find area. I had several locations to check out for orchids & we had success at most of the stops. We did a big loop up the Yalgoo-Ninghan Rd to the Warriedar Coppermine Rd, then back across & down the Paynes Find-Thundelarra Road.
The wildflowers are out in their millions, it is definitely the year for them around here. I did take more photos of them again; it is hard not to.
We also saw a large goanna crossing the road, & a soaring Wedge-tailed Eagle which flew above us down the road for a bit. It got to 26c today, our warmest day so far in our travels.
A few wildflowers |
My new engraved water bottle got it's first use today - it kept the water icy cold |
Dainty Blue orchids & a pure white one thrown in! |

We were out and about for quite a while again today, finding plenty of orchids in most spots, though other spots had none. Back at the van in the late afternoon I poured the jerry of fuel from the van into the ute, partly just to rotate the diesel, which shouldn't be stored for too long, and partly to avoid paying the high prices at Paynes Find.
