We had a half day out north of Waroona, checking on a nature reserve that might have been burnt. We got to the general area, but there was no burn found, plus we abandoned the drive when got to a steep, gravel slope.
We backtracked to the Nanga Road which goes up to Dwellingup, & found the burn, though no signs of orchids at the several stops we made. I was also told the burn went down onto Scarp Rd, near the river, so we tried again; no signs of orchids. BUGGER!
The final stop was looking for the Forest & Rose Fairies. I was very happy to find both types flowering 3 weeks earlier than last year!

With no excuse needed we lit up the fire in the firepit and had bubbles and nibbles. It was an enjoyable couple of hours chatting, and fiddling with the fire.
By some miracle of logistics the cupholders that I ordered only last Friday arrived today! I'm glad it was swift, but it makes me wonder why things usually take 7-10 days to get here from the east coast.
