We were invited to Adrian & Vonny’s for morning tea, which we supplied courtesy of the Pinjarra Bakery. I chose a cream puff & vanilla slice, & Geoff went with a custard tart & cheesecake.
Of course, there was an orchid stop or 2 on the way as well.
We were due to do a 3-month house sit for Adrian & Vonny in mid-2020, just as the COVID pandemic shut the world down. So, they were not able to go away, but very kindly let us stay on the property in Bertie for the whole time. It was nice to catch up with them again.
The drive back to Bouvard took us to a couple more orchid spots & through Dryandra. Sadly, no Numbats were seen, but I did get to see the hybrid Cowslip / Crimson Spider, which was a lovely finish for the trip.
It was smokey crossing the scarp through Dwellingup. Lots of burn-offs happening |
As we were passing the end of the road where I knew this pale Dancing Spider was... we had to stop! The 2nd flower was open. |
Primrose Spider? Cowslip x Crimson Spider |

It was a 400km+ day today, as we headed east to Popanyinning once again. It was good to have a catch-up with Adrian and Vonny, and we chatted away for 90 or so minutes. There were other things to see on our drive and Varena had several places in mind to stop for a look. We managed to mind orchids, but we went Numbatless.
